Staying Cool on the Course This Summer

The sweltering heat during the warmer months can sometimes make you want to throw in the golf towel. Here are a few tips that will keep you cool while your golf game is on fire.

Don’t wait until you are thirsty or dehydrated to drink water. You should drink a bottle of cold water before you even get to the course. Having cold water in your system will keep your body cooler as you begin to play. A good idea would be to freeze a bottle of water the night before your round and grab it on your way out. Then you can store it in your golf bag and have ice cold water at your fingertips. Be sure to continue to drink water throughout the round.

Although you may like that black polo shirt in your closet, don’t wear it out on the course during the summer. The color will attract the sun which will cause you to get overheated quickly. Wear light colored clothing instead.

Although this won’t help with the heat, the sun is brutal and your skin can take a beating being exposed for hours on end. Purchase an oil free sunscreen so that your hands aren’t greasy and use a high SPF to ensure it is keeping you protected.
